The Slovakian personal number is a unique numerical identifier assigned to citizens residing in Slovakia. The personal number is regulated by Act No. 133/2000 Coll. on Registration of Inhabitants. The date of birth and gender of the person can be derived from their personal number. Personal numbers are considered sensitive personal data in Slovakia. Similar numerical identifiers with the same format and scope as Slovakian personal numbers are used in many other countries, such as the Czech Republic, which shares a common Czechoslovakian past.
